Building digital archiving capability at National Archives of Australia

>

The National Archives of Australia's vision under Strategy 2030 is for a transformed and trusted National Archives: a world-leading archive empowered and resourced to ensure that authentic government information is created, secured, preserved and accessible to government and the community. Underpinning this transformation is a comprehensive and focused drive for digital service delivery and capability. What does it mean to be a digital archivist, or an archivist in this digital age? In 2019 the National Archives developed a Digital Archiving Capability Strategy to respond to the challenge of upskilling staff to work confidently across physical and analogue records. As the period covered by the strategy comes to close, this paper reflects on the implementation of the strategy and ongoing efforts to improve capability.
