Together in Electric Dreams: Realising the Potential of a Digital Archive
>
AUTHOR: DR ANDREW PATCH
Presented by In 2017 QSA set out to build a Digital Archive to enable Queensland to ensure the long-term preservation of permanent value born-digital records. 2022 sees the second phase of this project underway, with QSA working on the design, development and implementation of digital preservation capabilities and related services. The outcome of this phase will be the establishment of a live digital archive for Queensland Government agencies and public authorities in June 2023.
Together in Electric Dreams explores the challenges and opportunities that have emerged during this innovative development program. Reflecting on how the project has evolved to a place where words such as digital and archive are being questioned as to what they really mean and the implications that they have for QSA and our diverse client base.
Together in Electric Dreams will take attendees on this journey of questioning who and what we are as an archive; what it means to challenge analogue thinking in a digital reality; and do we really understand the implications of what we are creating. The paper will give attendees an insight into the program development, the challenges we still currently face, and the transformation that has emerged around the way we work with our clients and users.
