About the Conference Theme

Rising to our challenges: archives at the ‘G is our theme, drawing inspiration from the ‘G (MCG) as an iconic Melbourne sporting venue and landmark on unceded Wurundjeri Country.

Archives, like the ‘G, can also reach across the community and evoke passion, emotion and devotion. Let’s find inspiration to overcome our many and varied archival challenges.

Our professional passion derives from the role of archives and recordkeeping to connect people, places, space and time. This includes:

  • as instruments of government and corporate accountability and transparency
  • documenting and safeguarding democracy, citizen and consumer rights and entitlements
  • capturing the intricate and intimate details of our family, community and social lives, and
  • for education and awareness raising in dealing with sustainability, equity, activism, justice, and other advocacy agendas.

Be anywhere in the world and still attend!

We are once again offering a hybrid conference giving the delegates the option to attend in person or virtually.

Standing on Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country on the banks of the Birrarung (Yarra River), the ‘G site has a long and rich history as a meeting place for social and cultural gatherings for millennia. Drawing inspiration from this history, and its status as an iconic Melbourne sporting venue recognised throughout the world, we have chosen Rising to our Challenges as the theme for our 2023 conference.

The virtual component of the conference will showcase the award winning platform EventsAir, a Queensland based business. EventsAir has amazing usability, and functionality that will provide benefits for delegates, both online and in-person. There will be the opportunity for virtual and on-site attendees, both national and international, to join in the conversation, ask speakers and panelists questions and network with other attendees, all in real time.
