Indigenous Experiences

The Aboriginal Tent Embassy on the grounds in front of Old Parliament House, is a symbol of Aboriginal protest against successive governments and their approach to Indigenous issues. 2022 is the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of the embassy, the only site on the Register of the National Estate, noted as important due to its political significance to Indigenous Australians.

Reconciliation Place stretches between the National Library of Australia and the High Court of Australia on the foreshore of Lake Burley Griffin, with public artworks representing Indigenous culture, reconciliation, the Stolen Generation and themes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander achievement, belonging and connection.

'Yeribee' Indigenous experiences of Parliament House Learn stories of Indigenous parliamentarians, explore the site history of Parliament House, gain insights into how Australia's First Peoples are participating in the nation's democratic processes, and enjoy significant artworks from the Parliament House Art Collection by celebrated Indigenous artists.

Dhawura Tours offers short, half and full day tours of Aboriginal culture at various locations in and around Ngunawal country by experienced Aboriginal guides/Ngunawal traditional custodians.
